Herbal Teas for Every Ailment

A little over a month ago, I made the decision to stop taking meds (ibuprofen, benadryl, etc) for common everyday ailments. All drugs (even over-the-counter ones) do harm to your gut lining, and my gut is already messed up enough after years of being on antibiotics.

Going “med free” has been a challenging adjustment. I  didn’t realize how many things I take over the counter meds for- headaches, cramps, colds, etc. I’ve found (and am still finding) lots of great alternatives, but it took a while for me to find the things that worked for me. So far, tea has been one of my all-around favorite alternatives. There is literally a tea to soothe every common ailment! Here are my favorites:

Ginger Tea:

Ginger tea is often considered the “treat all” tea. It is both an anti-inflammatory and a pain reliever. It relaxes blood vessels to improve circulation, and it activates your body’s personal pain coping mechanisms while improving cognition. Ginger tea is extremely useful for those with irritable bowel syndrome, leaky gut, and other digestive issues. Ginger tea is most often used for headaches and nausea.

This is the best ginger tea I’ve found:

Peppermint Tea:

For any stomach issues, peppermint tea is the way to go. Stomach cramps, nausea, heartburn, indigestion, etc. You name it, Peppermint tea helps it.

My favorite peppermint tea is this one

But I also like mixing this green tea with a drop of peppermint essential oil.

Roobios Tea:

My favorite thing to use roobios tea for is all of my allergies + asthma + all my other lung issues. Roobios is also can also help ease headaches and strengthen the immune system. If you’re allergies are acting up or if you just have the common cold, make sure to give roobios tea a try! Here’s the brand I use:

Yogi +Traditional Medicinals Teas

Besides Ginger, Roobios, and Peppermint tea, I also have a variety of mixed teas that target specific symptoms + ailments. Here are my top 5:

What’s your favorite tea when you’re feeling under the weather? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to try some new teas!
